Honoring the Victims: Compassionate Nest's Commitment to Healing After Vancouver's Lapu-Lapu Day Tragedy

On April 26, 2025, during the Lapu-Lapu Day festival in Vancouver, a tragic incident occurred when a 30-year-old man drove his vehicle into a crowd of festivalgoers, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 individuals and injuring dozens more.
The Lapu-Lapu Day festival is an annual celebration honoring Filipino heritage and the legacy of Chief Lapu-Lapu, a national hero known for resisting Spanish colonization. This event holds significant cultural importance for the Filipino-Canadian community in Vancouver and beyond.
In the wake of this tragedy, Compassionate Nest extends its deepest condolences to the victims, their families, and the entire community affected by this senseless act. We stand in solidarity with those mourning the loss of loved ones and those recovering from injuries.
As an organization dedicated to providing support during times of crisis, we are coordinating with local authorities and community leaders to offer assistance where needed. Our focus is on delivering mental health support, emergency housing, and other essential services to those impacted by this event.
